Ayana Perla, an outgoing, confident girl of independent thought is an engineering graduate. She entered the purview of Bharatnatyam with her own interest at the age of 5. Since then it has been her all time favorite. Friedrich Nietzsche says, “I would believe only in a God that knows how to dance”. Similarly, dance for Ayana is a divine love for the lord of dance, “Nataraja”. The schooling, academic activities and travel due to father's transferable job haven't hindered her journey in this classical art form. Daughter of Dr. Vasanthkumar Perla and K. Shaila Kumari, Ayana Perla has always stood for her likes and dislikes. She opines that her independent thought process has been a product of the home atmosphere which parents have created for her.
Guru Vid.Smt. Srilakshmi, Mysore, of Uma Mahaeshwara Nritya Kalakshetra was her initial guru, from whom she learnt the near perfect adavus and hasta mudras which helped her to reflect on her strengths as a dancer. She completed Junior, Senior and Vidwat examinations conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Board under the guidance of Guru Vid.Smt. Sharadamani Shekhar, Sanathana Natyalaya, Mangaluru. Her association with Sharadamani Shekhar gave her the confidence a dancer should possess. She could explore her potentials as a dancer. Currently, she is learning Abhinaya under the able guidance of Dr. Rajashree Warrior, Thiruvanantapuram. She now teaches dance to the younger generation in her Guru's natyalaya. Keenly fascinated by this art form, she decided to balance both dance and her education. Ayana Perla has completed her engineering in Electronics and Communication from Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil, Mangaluru.
Apart from dance, Ayana is also interested in various other fields such as poetry and music. A disciple of Vidwan Yogeesha Sharma Ballapadavu, Ayana learns both Carnatic Classical music and Mridangam under his able guidance. A young writer in both Kannada and English, she has released her book titled “Amma nanagu rekkegaliddiddare” in the year 2008 and has recited her poems in the 'Yuvavani' section of All India Radio several times.
Ayana Perla has performed and gained recognition in several places in and around Karnataka.
